Victoria Monét has won Best R&B Album today at the 2024 Grammys. Jaguar II picked up the win over albums by Babyface (Girls Night Out), Summer Walker (Clear 2: Soft Life EP), Emily King (Special Occasion), and Coco Jones (What I Didn’t Tell You (Deluxe)).

The Best R&B Album win is Monét’s second of the day. Earlier, she and her collaborators won Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical, for Jaguar II.

Monét’s win puts her in a pantheon of artists who have previously won Best R&B Album, including Lauryn Hill, D’Angelo, TLC, Erykah Badu, Boyz II Men, Alicia Keys, Mary J. Blige, John Legend, Maxwell, Robert Glasper, Bruno Mars, and Anderson .Paak. In 2022, Jazmine Sullivan won the award for Heaux Tales.

Monét was nominated for seven Grammys tonight—the second most nominations of any artist behind SZA. Among her nominations tonight is Best New Artist. “On My Mama” is up for Record of the Year and Best R&B Song; she also received nominations for Best R&B Album (Jaguar II), Best R&B Performance (“How Does It Make You Feel”), and Best Traditional R&B Performance (“Hollywood”).

This marks the first year Monét has been nominated as lead performer, but, in previous years, picked up nominations for her work behind-the-scenes. In 2021, she was nominated for Best R&B Song as a co-writer of Chloe x Halle’s “Do It.” In 2020, her work on Ariana Grande’s Thank U, Next and “7 Rings” netted her nominations for Album and Record of the Year, respectively.
