She later returned to the stage to perform “Flowers” live, marking the third time she’s ever done so

Miley Cyrus has won the 2024 Grammy for Best Pop Solo Performance for her song “Flowers.” The song from her 2023 album, Endless Summer Vacation, won over songs from Billie Eilish (“What Was I Made For?”), Doja Cat (“Paint the Town Red”), Olivia Rodrigo (“Vampire”), and Taylor Swift (“Anti-Hero”). Before tonight, Cyrus had eight Grammy nominations total to her name, but no wins. Mariah Carey presented Cyrus with the trophy.

“This M.C. is gonna stand by this M.C. for this because this is just too iconic,” Cyrus said in her acceptance speech, referring to Carey. She continued: “Oh my god I just got stuck in the rain in traffic and thought I was going to miss this moment. I could miss the award but I can’t miss Mariah Carey.”

A little later, Cyrus returned to the stage to perform “Flowers” for the third time ever. Wearing a retro-inspired jeweled dress, she belted out the song while also interrupting herself for a handful of observations, including one endearing moment where she celebrated winning her first Grammy.

Cyrus got five other nominations at the 2024 Grammys: Album of the Year (Endless Summer Vacation), Record of the Year (“Flowers”), Song of the Year (“Flowers”), Best Pop Vocal Album (Endless Summer Vacation), Best Pop Duo/Group Performance (“Thousand Miles” with Brandi Carlile).
