KUALA LUMPUR: MYAirline's flight license will be temporarily suspended, according to Transport Minister Anthony Loke.

Anthony Loke said that he understood that the low-cost airline still existed and stopped operations while looking for investors.

"That's their commercial issue, our authorities will temporarily suspend their license," he told reporters after the handover ceremony of Malaysia's first electric terminal lorry to Unilever Malaysia at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Center (MITEC) here on Monday.

MYAirline Sdn Bhd suspended its operations effective 12 October until further notice due to significant financial pressure.

Anthony Loke said, at the moment, the priority is to ensure that the rights of consumers are preserved by recovering damages, in addition to the welfare issue of the airline's 500 employees.

"The company is reminded that they have two responsibilities in this aspect, namely the customer and the employee. This must be taken care of first," he said.

Anthony Loke said, he understood that MYAirline will hold a special press conference today to explain to customers and their staff.
