Police arrested a man for being in the women's toilet at a supermarket in Taman Dahlia, Masai near here on Sunday.
Seri Alam District Police Chief, Superintendent Mohd Sohaimi Ishak said, the police have detected a viral video lasting two minutes and 11 seconds that was uploaded on the social media site Facebook about a man lurking in the women's toilet of a supermarket near here.
"As a result of the investigation, the police found that the incident happened on October 22, 2023 (Sunday), around 11 am at a supermarket here.
"The police later arrested a local man who was handed over by the public. The result of the review found that the suspect, who is around 23 years old, has no record of past offences," he said.
The case is investigated under Section 377D of the Penal Code and if convicted can be punished under the same section of the offense which provides for a prison sentence of up to two years.
Meanwhile, Mohd Sohaimi said, the remand application for the suspect will also be applied for under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code at the Johor Bahru Court on 23 October 2023 for further investigation.
