PRESIDENT Mahmoud Abbas insisted that the actions and policies of the Hamas group do not represent the Palestinian people, the country's official news agency, WAFA, reported.
In a phone call with Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, Abbas asserted that the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) is the "sole legal representative of the Palestinian people."
Mahmoud also stated in the conversation that he rejects the killing of civilians either by Israel or Palestine.
Thus, the Palestinian President called for the release of civilians, captives and prisoners on both sides, the news agency added.
Abbas began serving as the President of Palestine since 2005 representing the Fatah political party - which is a rival to Hamas. - Agency
