
MH122: AUSTRALIAN POLICE ARRESTS MAN AFTER MID-FLIGHT INCIDENT

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 14 (Bernama) -- A passenger who was allegedly causing disruption mid-flight aboard Malaysia Airlines flight MH122 has been arrested by the Australian Federal Police (AFP).
AFP in a media statement posted on its website said the 45-year-old man was arrested without incident and is expected to be charged later tonight.
“Passengers have now been evacuated from the aircraft. There is no impending threat to the community,” the statement said.
The AFP added that it will not divulge operational matters but said an emergency response plan was enacted and an evacuation was initiated once it was deemed safe for passengers and crew.
Malaysia Airlines in a statement earlier said MH122 departing from Sydney International Airport to Kuala Lumpur had to turn back mid-flight due to a disruptive passenger onboard.
“In the interest of safety, the commander of the flight made a decision to return to Sydney. The flight carrying 194 passengers and five crew onboard landed safely at 3:47 pm local time,” it said.
Videos posted on X (Twitter) by individuals claimed to be onboard flight MH122 showed crew members trying to calm a man down after he began shouting at other passengers.

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 14 (Bernama) -- Malaysia Airlines plane MH122 departing from Sydney International Airport to Kuala Lumpur had to turn back mid-flight due to a disruptive passenger onboard.
Malaysia Airlines in a statement today said local authorities are currently assessing the situation.
“In the interest of safety, the commander of the flight made a decision to return to Sydney. The flight carrying 194 passengers and five crew onboard landed safely at 3:47 pm local time.
“The safety and comfort of our crew and passengers are of utmost importance to Malaysia Airlines,” it said.
Earlier, an international news portal reported the Malaysia Airlines flight en route to Kuala Lumpur from Sydney has been turned around due to a mid-air 'emergency incident'.
MH122 left Sydney International Airport at 1.40 pm and landed back on the runway at 3.47 pm.
Videos posted on X (Twitter) by individuals claimed to be onboard flight MH122 showed crew members trying to calm a man down after he began shouting at other passengers.
Meanwhile the Australian Federal Police (AF) on their social media said they are currently responding to an emergency incident at Sydney International Airport.
“An update will be provided at an appropriate time,” it said.

KUALA LUMPUR: A Malaysia Airlines flight from Sydney to Kuala Lumpur was forced to turn back after an incident mid-air involving a disruptive passenger.
MH122 left Sydney International Airport at 1.40 pm and landed back on the runway at 3.47 pm.
Sydney-based 9news reported that a disturbance occurred due to a passenger onboard who allegedly made threatening remarks.
Malaysia Airlines, in a statement today, said local authorities are currently assessing the situation.

The Australian Federal Police said they are responding to an emergency incident at Sydney International Airport.
Meanwhile, @chzaib posted on X, that currently everyone onboard 'has been off the plane safely, and in a lounge''. Police interview is ongoing before more details given, the post added.
