31 individuals compounded RM62,000 for gathering at Dataran Merdeka

KUALA LUMPUR: Police arrested 31 individuals for organizing and participating in a rally at the Dataran Merdeka field, last night.
The group comprising 17 men and 14 women were also compounded of RM2,000 each for a total of RM62,000.
According to Dang Wangi District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Noor Dellhan Yahaya, they were found to have violated the standard operating procedures (SOP) of the National Rehabilitation Plan (PPN) because they were involved in the rally which started at 8pm.
All the individuals involved were taken to the Dang Wangi District Police Headquarters (IPD) for their statements to be recorded
"The group was found to be members of the People's Solidarity Secretariat (SSR) who gathered at Dataran Merdeka last night in conjunction with a program to commemorate those who died as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.“They lit candles and held white banners reading‘ Condolences to the Souls Who Have Gone ’,” he said in a statement last night.
All of them were compounded in accordance with Section 9 (5) of the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012, Section 21A of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 (Act 342).
