Two former employees of the Melaka Scouts Council remanded over rental fraud in Melaka

MELAKA, June 16 -- Two former employees of the Melaka Scouts Council (MPNM) have been remanded for three days, starting today, to assist with investigations into building rental fraud totalling RM50,000.

The remand order against the former MPNM executive secretary and assistant finance clerk, aged 50 and 30 respectively, was issued by Magistrate Lee Kim Keat at the Melaka Court Complex, Ayer Keroh here today.

The two suspects were arrested after giving their statements at the Melaka Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) office at 6.30 pm yesterday.

The case was investigated under Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009, which carries a maximum imprisonment of up to 20 years, and a fine of five times the value of the gratification or RM10,000, whichever is higher.

Earlier, two suspects were seen arriving at the court complex at about 11.30 am, accompanied by MACC personnel.
