KUALA LUMPUR: Four members of the Supreme Council (MPT) of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) staged a walk-out at the MPT meeting at the Universiti Malaysia Alumni Association (PAUM) Clubhouse here tonight.

The four -- Ulya Aqamah Husamuddin, Akramsyah Muamar Ubaidah Sanusi, Datuk Abu Bakar Yahya and Tariq Ismail – stepped out in the middle of the meeting for disagreeing with the issue of membership nullification of Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and four other Members of Parliament (MPs) from the party.

Ulya Aqamah, who is Information Chief of Bersatu Youth (Armada), told reporters that the walk-out at about 10.50 pm was a sign of protest on the meeting that was chaired by party president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

“The four of us left because we protested. There are two things we cannot accept.

"They want to confirm the nullification of Dr Mahathir's (and four others) membership and the Perikatan Nasional coalition that has not yet been valid," he said when met.

Earlier, Muhyiddin was seen entering the grounds of the PAUM Clubhouse at 8.25 pm in a black Toyota Vellfire escorted by several police cars.

Others in tow were party secretary-general Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin and Supreme Council Member Datuk Mohd Redzuan Md Yusof.

Dr Mahathir’s political secretary Abu Bakar Yahya was also seen entering the clubhouse which was tightly guarded by police.

Media practitioners were not allowed into the clubhouse area.

An invitation to the emergency MPT meeting was sent by Bersatu executive secretary Muhammad Suhaimi Yahya through the WhatsApp app.

However, the invitation for the meeting did not list Dr Mahathir, Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir and Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman.

Among others, the MPT meeting tonight was expected to finalize the nullification of membership of Dr Mahathir and four other MPs and the possibility to reunite with UMNO.
