PETALING JAYA: Police raided an entertainment outlet in Icon City early on Saturday (Oct 5) morning and made 31 arrests.

A majority of those arrested were women, with 20 – aged between 20 and 44 – believed to have been employed as guest relations officers (GRO).

Five of the suspected GROs were found to be Malaysians.

The remaining suspects included bouncers and storekeepers.

"The raiding party was led by D7's Anti Vice unit chief DSP Redzaime Abd Hamid and consisted of eight more senior officers as well as 25 personnel.

"The six-storey lounge and KTV had been operating for around one year and four months and used the GROs to attract customers.

"Twenty-two customers were also checked before being released," said Bukit Aman Anti-Vice, Gambling and Secret Societies Division (D7) principal assistant director Senior Asst Comm Datuk Rohaimi Md Isa.

He said the foreign GROs were found to have had no valid permits and were paid to attract customers.
