PETALING JAYA: Nineteen policemen and a court official were among 47 people arrested by Bukit Aman in a raid.

Its Integrity and Standard Compliance Department (JIPS) arrested the group early Monday (Oct 14).

"The raid was conducted with the Kuala Lumpur Narcotic Crimes Investigation Department around 1am, at an entertainment outlet along Jalan Raja Chulan," said JIPS director Comm Datuk Zamri Yahya.

"Of the 47,19 were policemen and eight tested positive for drugs via a urine test.

"The suspects included two civil servants, an assistant registrar and a soldier," he said when contacted.

The detainees have been brought to Dang Wangi police headquarters for further investigations.

"Besides taking lawful action, JIPS will take disciplinary action against the 19 policemen for going against orders to not visit entertainment outlets as instructed by the Inspector-General of Police," he said.

Earlier in the year, IGP Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador announced that policemen were barred from visiting entertainment and gaming outlets, in an effort to reduce corruption within the force.

KUALA LUMPUR: A soldier and eight policemen were arrested on suspicion of illegal substance abuse in a police raid at an entertainment outlet at Jalan Raja Chulan here, on Monday.

The urine samples of all nine – aged between 20 and 30 – tested positive for drugs in the 1am operation, Bernama reported.

They were detained along with a magistrate and 11 other policemen who were caught patronising the first-floor entertainment outlet at Wisma MPL, where the authorities also discovered a package believed to contain illicit drugs.

In all, 47 people were nabbed in the raid.

“In addition to (action being taken against the eight who tested positive) for drugs, (all 19 policemen) will be charged with disciplinary action.

“This is per the instruction of the Inspector-General of Police, who had previously issued an order (against police) visiting entertainment centres,” said Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) Integrity and Standards Compliance Department director Datuk Zamri Yahya.

He added that all 19 policemen are now under a four-day remand order; and that the case is being investigated under Section 39 A (1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and Section 12 (2) and Section 15 (1) of the same act.
