PETALING JAYA: Datuk Mohd Khairul Adib Abd Rahman has been appointed as the new Public Service Department (PSD) director-general effective Oct 1, following the retirement of Tan Sri Borhan Dollah.

Chief Secretary to the Government Datuk Seri Ismail Bakar said the appointment was to replace Borhan who had retired on Sept 9.


Mohd Khairul, 57, graduated with a Bachelor of Science from University Kebangsaan Malaysia and a political science degree from Saitama University in Japan, said Ismail.

Ismail added that Mohd Khairul had served in public service for 31 years since he joined the civil service as the administrative and diplomatic officer in January 1988.


"He has vast experience in management and public service, and had also served as the secretary-general and the deputy secretary-general at the Transport Ministry. He was also the division secretary at the Education Ministry as well as the Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry (now known as Energy, Science, Technology, Environment, and Climate Change Ministry).

"He also served at the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (now known as Water, Land and Natural Resources Ministry) and also worked as an Education and Training adviser in Tokyo, Japan as well as in London, United Kingdom," he said in a statement on Saturday (Sept 28).

Ismail said the government also thanked and expressed its gratitude to Borhan for his contributions to the nation as well as his service as the PSD director-general, especially in bringing change to the public services system.
