KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 14 Vietnamese women, believed to be working as guest relations officers (GRO), were detained following a raid at an entertainment outlet in Jalan Metro Perdana, Sentul.

The women, aged between 24 and 31, were nabbed along with a local woman, who was the manager of the premises in the raid conducted at about 9.40pm on Saturday (Sept 21).


It is learnt that the premises, which operates from 5pm till 11.59pm, provides customers with karaoke in an open setting while being "served" by the GROs, who earned commissions based on the number of drinks customers bought for her.

However, customers are also encouraged to give tips to the GROs based on their level of satisfaction.


Kuala Lumpur CID chief Senior Asst Comm Rusdi Md Isa said an amplifier, two microphones, a set of speakers and RM520 cash were also seized during the operation codenamed 'Ops Noda".

"We also performed checks on 22 local men at the location.

"Those detained have been remanded," he said when contacted.
