KLANG: Economic Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Azmin Ali received some very important visitors on Wednesday (Feb 6) as he recuperated at home after undergoing gall bladder surgery.
PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and his wife Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail were among those who visited Azmin at his home in Ampang.
The visit by Anwar comes amid disagreements on PKR matters between him and Azmin in the past few weeks.
Besides Anwar and Wan Azizah, Selangor Mentri Besar Amirudin Shari and Deputy Primary Industries Minister Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin as well as their spouses also visited Azmin.
Azmin, who is on one month medical leave, was discharged from a private hospital on Tuesday (Feb 6) where he had undergone the surgery.
According to Shamsul Iskndar, Azmin is recuperating well and will be resting at home.
Amirudin’s press secretary Fareed Ashaaree released a short statement confirming the visit.
“My wife and I with the Deputy Prime Minister and Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim together with Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar visited Datuk Seri Azmin Ali at his house at about noon today.
“I am praying for his speedy recovery so that he can return to carrying out his duties,” said Amirudin.
The Yang DiPertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and prime minister’s wife Tun Dr Siti Hasmah had visited Azmin while he was still in hospital on Tuesday.
Ties between Azmin and Anwar went south barely two months after the latter took over as party president.
Their disagreements were over appointments to PKR’s supreme council and state chairmanships.
Azmin penned a strongly worded open letter criticising the appointments and the pair have openly exchanged veiled barbs on Twitter.
