KUALA LUMPUR: Police today detained a Bangladeshi man suspected of locking up and raping an 11-year-old boy in a storeroom near Medan Selera Jaya in Petaling Jaya on Thursday.
Petaling Jaya police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zani Che Din said the 26-year-old contract worker was detained soon after the victim’s father lodged a police report on the alleged incident at about 2am today.
“The boy informed his father that the suspect had sodomised him at about 8.30pm yesterday when he went to the storeroom to get his mobile phone which was being charged.
“The suspect detained the victim in the storeroom. He had previously tried to sodomise the boy by offering him a RM150 bribe,” Mohd Zani said in a statement today.
He added that the suspect will be remanded today for an investigation under Section 377C of the Penal Code for committing carnal intercourse against the order of nature without consent, which allows for a prison sentence of up to 20 years and whipping, if found guilty. © New Straits Times Press
