P. Nallini is first Malaysian Indian woman on nation's highest court

PUTRAJAYA: A new Federal Court judge, Justice Datuk P. Nallini (pic), is the first Malaysian Indian woman to sit on the nation's highest court.
The 59-year-old was one of the four new judges elevated to the Federal Court from the Court of Appeal in a swearing-in ceremony here at the Palace of Justice on Monday (Nov 26).
The other three new Federal Court judges are Justices Datuk Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat, Datuk Abang Iskandar Abang Hashim and Tan Sri Idrus Harun.
Born on Aug 23, 1959, in Penang, Justice Nallini holds a bachelor's degree in Science from the University of London and a law diploma from Westminster University.
Her legal career started in 1984 when she was admitted to the English Bar as a solicitor by the Middle Temple of the United Kingdom.
She became a Court of Appeal judge on Sept 12, 2014.
Nallini has co-authored a book titled "The Law of Dismissal", which was published by CCH Publications.
Five judges were also elevated from the High Court to the Court of Appeal in the same ceremony.
They are Justices Datuk Lau Bee Lan, Datuk Mohamad Zabidin Mohd Diah, Datuk Yew Jen Kie, Datuk Nor Bee Ariffin and Datuk Has Zanah Mehat.
