SHAH ALAM: Haniza Talha, the assemblyman for Taman Medan in Selangor, has been officially elected as the PKR Wanita chief.

She will take helm of PKR’s Women’s wing from 2018 to 2021 after defeating her challenger, Kuantan MP Fuziah Salleh.


At the same time, Sementa assemblyman Dr Daroyah Alwi, is the newly-elected PKR Wanita deputy chief, beating her opponent Batu Tiga assemblyman Rodziah Ismail.

The number of votes, however, will only be released at the official PKR polls website at an unspecified date.


Haniza regards the combination of her and Dr Daroyah in leading PKR’s women wing as a solid combination.

“Our aim is ensure that the core PKR struggles is continued in upholding justice, specifically for women within and outside the party.

“Whatever took place throughout the election process, it’s a normal occurrence due to an ongoing democratic procedure,” she said to reporters during a press conference at the Ideal Convention Centre (IDCC) at Shah Alam on Nov 16.

According to Haniza, the new PKR Wanita leadership will organise meetings with division level (cabang) Wanita chiefs across the country.

“I’m confident that with the new elected leadership, we will be able to accomplish the aspirations of the party,” she added.

Meanwhile, the three vice Wanita chief positions were won by Faizah Ariffin, Sangetha Jayakumar and Wasanthee Sinnasamy.

At the same time, 20 newly-elected Wanita leadership council were also announced, which included Ginie Lim Siew Lin, Hasmorni Tamby, Juwairiya Zulkifli, Loo Voon May, Monaliza Mokhtar, and among others.

Catherine Jok Uvang, Ginie Lim Siew Lin, Hasmoni Tamby, Juwairiya Zulkifli, Kavitha Chandragesen, Loo Voon May, Mahani Abdul Moin, Manja Maydin, Meera Deevarajoo, Monaliza Mokhtar, Napsiah Khamis, Nor Ashidah Ibrahim, Nurainie Haziqah Shafi'i, Nursiah Ismail, Nurul Hajar Mardhiah, Raiyan Abdul Rahim, Sarimah Lisut, Shoba Selvarajoo, Thilagavanthy Selvanathan dan Zulhaidah Suboh.


The three-day PKR national congress will conclude this Sunday (Nov 18).
