SHAH ALAM: Rafizi Ramli and Mohamed Azmin Ali held each other in a warm embrace, coupled with pecks on each other’s cheeks, to signify an end to their rivalry in the party.

The party deputy president candidates proceeded to do so at the PKR National Congress here after being told by a Perlis PKR delegate to “stop fighting against each other” now that the party polls have concluded.

Tengku Nazri Tengku Aldin, who is the former Arau division deputy chief, also questioned the party leadership if these were examples which they wished to pass on to future generations.

“We fought tooth and nail between Team Rafizi and Team Azmin. But is this what we want our children to inherit from us?



“In reality, I want to say that we have failed. We argued and fought to show who is better, and we were willing to fight against friends.

“I want to urge the party leadership today to let bygones be bygones. Let’s build a new life, a new party,” he said when debating the president’s speech.

Tengku Nazri also told the leadership that in India, where there are millions of voters, they do not face such challenges as what PKR faced during its party polls.



“That’s why I want to ask the president to send the election committee (JPP) to India. Ask them to learn how that country manages its party elections,” he added.

Tengku Nazri ended his debate by requesting that Team Rafizi and Team Azmin “stop fighting” as the party polls have ended.

“Prove to us, how much you love and care for this party,” he said.

His emotional speech caused Azmin and Rafizi to embrace each other.
