KAJANG: Two men were shot dead in a shootout with a police officer at Jalan Nasbandiah here at 1am this morning.

Selangor police criminal investigation department chief Senior Assistant Commissioner Fadzil Ahmat said a police officer from the Selangor police contingent serious crimes unit (D9) was doing his rounds around Jalan Semenyih here when he noticed a Porsche Cayenne with the two suspects in it.

“The officer did a check on the registration number and found out that the colour of the car was different from the record.

“In the record, the car was white, but the car he saw was black. He then approached the car to investigate further.

“The suspects then made a dash, prompting the officer to give chase for about 4.5km,” he said when met at the scene today.

Fadzil said the suspects’ vehicle skidded before they exited and fired a few shots towards the police officer.

“In self-defence, the officer retaliated and managed to shoot dead both suspects. Further check on the car found a few items including two handguns and two machetes.

He also said that both men were locals, aged 43 and 36, from Pandamaran in Klang, and Teluk Panglima Garang in Kuala Langat.

Both suspects also had criminal and drug records and one of them was wanted by the police to facilitate in break-in cases in Klang.

“The first suspect was a member of Geng Devan 360, while the second suspect was a member of Geng Spider 08 and both of them were on the police radar,” he said, adding that the two suspects were believed to be involved in six robberies, break-ins and car hijacking. © New Straits Times Press (M) Bhd
