KUALA LUMPUR: Police have crippled a fake money-printing syndicate following the arrest of four suspects in Kelana Jaya last Saturday.

Subang Jaya district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohammad Azlin Sadari said the arrests were made following a report lodged by a victim on July 23.

The victim, a mobile phone seller, had told police that one of his customers purchased an iPhone X using counterfeit notes.

Azlin said the men, aged 24 and 30, were arrested in two different raids at a restaurant and a condominium in Kelana Jaya.

“The District Commercial Crimes Investigation division made the arrests following a report received on July 23 over an iPhone X purchase using fake money.

“Police seized six RM100 notes, believed to be counterfeit money, a laptop, a printer, and five mobile phones and other tools allegedly used to process and print fake notes,” Azlin said in a statement today.

All four men will be remanded until Sept 15 to facilitate investigations under Section 489B of the Penal Code. © New Straits Times Press
