Former Rocket editor expected to be named Bernama CEO, say sources

PETALING JAYA: Journalist Wan Hamidi Hamid, the former editor in chief of the DAP mouthpiece The Rocket, is expected to be appointed Bernama CEO, says sources.
The Bernama board headed by Datuk Seri Azman Ujang is expected to meet up soon to endorse the appointment.
Previously, the post was appointed from within the ranks of the national news agency, said a source.
Datuk Zulkefli Salleh, the current CEO, is expected to retire next month when his contract is up.
Communications and Multimedia Minister Gobind Singh Deo had previously said that Bernama and Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) have been instructed to submit a paper on a proposed merger.Gobind and Azman did not respond to queries by the Star Online on the subject.
