Hishammuddin: No reason for me to leave Umno but..

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein, the MP for Sembrong, Johor, dismissed on Wednesday (Sept 19) media reports that he was one of the Umno MPs who would resign from the party.
“Do not believe the speculation out there. I have no reason to leave the party. However, I feel that the leadership should set a clear direction for all of us Umno members,” he told Bernama.
Hishammuddin was responding to media reports that he would leave Umno. The speculation arose after Utusan Malaysia reported that he had met with Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad for about two hours on Tuesday (Sept 18) in Putrajaya.
The former Umno vice-president said he had met Dr Mahathir to find out the prime minister's plans for the people and nation.=
In SEREMBAN, Umno Supreme Council member and Jelebu MP Datuk Jalaluddin Alias also dismissed social media reports that he would be leaving the party.
He said in a statement that he had never planned or thought of resigning from the party.
“I will remain with the Umno and BN struggle with the mandate given by the constituents of the Jelebu parliamentary constituency and will not disappoint the hope the people have in UMNO and BN,” he said. -Bernama
