KUALA LUMPUR: Felda has set up a new committee to renegotiate with Synergy Promenade Sdn Bhd (SPSB) on the status of the Kuala Lumpur Vertical City (KLVC) project in Jalan Semarak, Kuala Lumpur.
Felda newly appointed chairman Tan Sri Megat Zaharuddin Megat Mohd Nor said the agency is in the midst of collecting details and findings of the project before it can proceed discussions with SPSB.
“The case is quite complicated. We know that it (KLVC) is our land and maybe there were deals made during the previous administration with the company. We are unsure of it.
“If we find out that there were agreements made during the previous administration, the new committee that we have set up will look into the matter and will solve it as quickly as possible.
“We are in the midst of gathering the details and we have also spoken to legals experts. We are also almost finalising the new mandate to be presented to the new committee. If the case requires forensic investigation, we have no problems to proceed with it,” he said during a press conference here today.
Megat Zaharuddin said the KLVC case will be included in the white paper which will presented to the government.
BH reported late last year, that Felda was at risk of losing ownership of the land worth more than RM200 million following what had been described as a “dubious land deal” in 2015.
The plots of land, which had been earmarked for the KLVC development project, will feature seven towers.
The ownership transfer of the land took place when Felda Investment Corp Sdn Bhd (FIC) appointed SPSB as its main developer in June 2014, and granted the company full power of attorney to develop the land.
SPSB returned all plots of land involved to Felda on Jan 15, along with all documents related to the parcels of land alienated to the developer, at no cost.
Meanwhile, Megat Zaharuddin also announced the appointment of new Felda director-general Datuk Dr Othman Omar to replace Datuk Ab Ghani Mohd Ali effective Oct 1.
He said the appointment of Othman was made due to his vast experience and knowledge in corporate and government bodies. Ab Ghani had served Felda for 37 years. © New Straits Times Press (M) Bhd
