KUALA LUMPUR: Three masked men stormed into a couple's home in Kampung Pandan and attacked them before escaping with their car early Wednesday, police said.
In the 12.30am incident, Wangsa Maju police chief Superintendant Noor Azmi Yusoff said the victims were watching television in the living room when the three intruders, armed with a hammer and a baton, entered their home.
"The door was not locked, so the men rushed into the house and attacked the 31-year-old male victim with a hammer,
"During the commotion, the victim managed to grab the weapon and fought back. However, he was attacked by another masked man who was armed with a baton.
"His wife was also attacked for trying to help her husband."
With the victims powerless to fight back, Noor Azmi said the masked men proceeded to break the couple's Nissan Almera's car window and escaped with the car.
"Both the victims sustained head and body injuries from the attack. Luckily no other valuables were stolen," he said, adding that police were in the midst of identifying the home intruders.
