KUALA LUMPUR: Armed men escaped with at least RM800,000 worth of gold after robbing a goldsmith at a shopping mall at Sri Petaling here.

City police chief Comm Datuk Seri Mazlan Lazim said they were alerted about the incident at around 2.29pm on Aug 17.


"The victim claimed that five men armed with guns had robbed the shop.

"We launched an investigation and found that the men had made off with at least RM800,000 worth of gold," he said in a statement on Tuesday (Aug 21).
He said CCTV footage showed the suspects fleeing the scene on motorcycles.

"We have sent evidence taken at the scene to the Chemistry Department for DNA profiling," he said, adding that the suspects are still at large.
