Musa returns to Malaysia

PETALING JAYA: Former Sabah chief minister Musa Aman has finally returned to Malaysia from London, a little over three months after leaving the country, the Immigration Department confirmed.
Its director-general, Mustafar Ali, said Musa arrived at the Subang Airport from the Seletar Airport in Singapore at 6.45pm.
He is believed to have been later taken to a hospital in Subang Jaya for further treatment.
In a statement, Mustafar said the delegation bringing Musa in was exempted from checks at the immigration counter due to Musa’s health problems.
“As soon as they arrived, the passenger documents were checked and recorded into the Immigration Department’s computer system,” he said in a statement today.
The Immigration Department, he added, had also informed the police and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission of Musa’s arrival.
Musa left the country on May 14, a couple of days after he was replaced by Shafie Apdal as the Sabah chief minister on May 12.
The Sabah Barisan Nasional chairman was sworn in as chief minister on May 10 after obtaining a simple majority but his stint was shortlived when several BN assemblymen defected to Parti Warisan Sabah.
He has yet to take his oath of office as the Sungai Sibuga assemblyman and must do so by Sept 11 or vacate the seat.
It was previously reported that Musa would return to the state after his treatment at the Clementine Churchill Hospital in London but would be referred to the Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore for follow-up treatment.
He was reported to be in London to seek medical treatment following heart bypass surgery.
Musa is also under police probe over alleged criminal intimidation against Sabah Yang di-Pertua Negeri Juhar Mahiruddin.
Meanwhile, Musa’s press officer, Awang Faisal, said Musa returned to Malaysia to “address all outstanding issues” despite his health.
In a short statement, Awang said Musa is currently being examined and monitored by a team of physicians at a hospital.
“He has given his full cooperation to the authorities and will continue to do so despite health concerns and against his doctor’s advice in order to attend to his obligations.
“On behalf of Tan Sri Musa, I wish to thank all well-wishers who have prayed for his speedy recovery.”
