KUALA LUMPUR: Kapar MP Abdullah Sani has claimed that supporters of PKR Wanita chief Zuraida Kamaruddin threatened to “expose” his wife Faezah Ariffin following criticisms she made in a speech in Seremban.

Faezah is going for the post of PKR Wanita vice-chief.

“When she criticised Zuraida, Zuraida sent her people to ‘expose’ my wife,” Abdullah said at the Parliament lobby today.

Faezah said PKR Wanita – which Zuraida has led since 2007 – was not functioning as it should and cautioned members against allowing Zuraida’s allies to continue leading the wing.

“Just look at what happened after Zuraida was given power. It went to her head after she was appointed a minister,” Faezah, who is in PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli’s team, said at a ceramah to commemorate 20 years of the “Reformasi” movement in Negeri Sembilan.

Abdullah said his wife received the threat in an audio recording she received about noon yesterday.

Faezah has lodged a police report last night over the threat.

Zuraida, meanwhile, denied sending anyone to threaten Faezah.

“I think the person was speaking metaphorically. I don’t think they meant to physically expose her,” she said at the Parliament lobby.

She also welcomed the police report lodged by Faezah.

On a separate matter, Abdullah has challenged PKR deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali to prove he has violated the party’s constitution.

Abdullah was responding to Azmin’s statement made earlier on referring him to the party’s disciplinary board following statements the MP made on a conspiracy against the party’s president-elect Anwar Ibrahim.

Speaking to FMT, Abdullah insisted it was his right to make the statements he made earlier this week as a member of a party which recognises democracy.

“He (Azmin) can do whatever he wants (refer me to the disciplinary board), but show me which part of the party’s constitution that I’ve violated.

“They are saying that what I have been saying is against the party’s constitution. If that is so, show me the proof.

“I’m not afraid and am happy to say that this is the only platform that I have to voice out such matters.

“I want Anwar to be prime minister and I have the right to bring up the issue of people trying to stop it.”

He also raised concerns about the future of the party, asking what would happen to it if his right to voice out was suppressed.

“This is reform-based party. If I am not allowed to criticise a leader who is interfering in our party, I am very worried about the future of this party.

Abdullah had recently accused Putrajaya’s chief adviser Daim Zainuddin of being behind a campaign to stop Anwar from becoming the prime minister.

Abdullah said Daim had claimed that Anwar was not suitable for the position and should wait until Mahathir fulfils his commitments to the government.

Azmin had said he would leave the matter to the party’s disciplinary board to look at the type of action that could be taken.

He said it was not a problem of discipline, but an issue of the competency of someone carrying out his duties as a leader
