BUTTERWORTH: Three inmates of a drug rehabilitation centre ended up behind bars for having steel ball bearings implanted in their private parts.
A magistrate’s court here sentenced them to eight months’ jail over the ‘job’ meant to improve their sexual prowess.
Two of them, both 25, pleaded guilty to having ball bearings embedded in their private parts during detention at the Pusat Serenti Kampung Selamat in Tasek Gelugor at 4pm on May 29.
Another accused, 38, who already had a ball bearing inserted in his private part, pleaded guilty to carrying out the “surgery” on them during detention.
The offence falls under Section 20(1)(a) of the Drug Dependants Act 1983, which carries a maximum sentence of three years’ jail or fine, or both, upon conviction.
Under the law, it is illegal for inmates to have ball bearings implanted in their private parts while undergoing rehabilitation.
Magistrate Muhammad Firdaus Abdul Wahab ordered the three to serve the jail term from the date of conviction yesterday.
National Anti-Drugs Agency prosecuting officer Najihah Shurdin prosecuted the case.
