Nik Azman is new EPU director-general
PUTRAJAYA: Datuk Nik Azman Nik Abdul Majid has been appointed the new Economic Planning Unit (EPU) director-general, effective Wednesday (Jun 7).
His appointment was announced by Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Dr Ali Hamsa today.
Ali said Nik Azman, who is the EPU deputy director-general, had vast experiences in economic analysis and financial management throughout his services in the public sector.
His 34 years of service included various capacities including as the Finance Ministry's Budget Management assistant senior director and EPU director of Regional Economic Section.
"I believe Nik Azman can effectively execute his responsibilities and is able to continue to manage the country's socio-economy in a strategic and sustainable manner," said Ali.
Nik Azman, 58, graduated with an honorary bachelor’s degree in Applied Economics from Universiti Malaya, and is a Master’s degree holder in Economy from Nebraska University.
Ali also conveyed the government's appreciation to Datuk Seri Dr Rahamat Bivi Yusoff for the latter's contributions while serving as the EPU director-general for more than five years
