BUKIT MERTAJAM: Police raided Change Your Life’s (CYL) office in Icon City here but nobody was working then.
Four notices, pasted on the office’s door, stated that officers from the Bukit Aman Commercial Criminal Investigation department (CCID) had confiscated a list of items.
Among the items taken on Friday were documents, banking slips, agreement forms, membership cards, attendance records, a television, electronic devices and RM3,000 cash.
CYL made headlines recently when it failed to deliver its promise of profit to investors from its forex scheme early this month.
It later gave investors a choice to withdraw their investment at a lower exchange rate or convert them into “life points”. The company also informed investors that the money will be refunded tomorrow.
Meanwhile, a check by The Star on JJPTR offices on the island showed that all the offices were closed yesterday.
Offices located in Perak Road, Tanjung Tokong, Bayan Baru and Bandar Baru Air Itam were locked and some had their roller shutters down.
There were only a handful of investors who turned up at the main office in Perak Road.
A man in his 50s said: “My children invested about RM10,000 in the scheme. I don’t think they will be getting back their money now”.
He left immediately after he was told by pressmen that the office had been raided.
However, several JJ Marts, believed to be linked to JJPTR, located on the island were operating as usual yesterday.
According to the JJ Mart signboard in Perak Road, the convenience store was owned by JJ Global Mart Sdn Bhd and was later changed to LF Mart Sdn Bhd on Thursday.
Penang police chief Comm Datuk Chuah Ghee Lye confirmed that the 19 people detained on Thursday have been released.
Meanwhile, China Press quoted a police source as saying that they might arrest JJPTR founder Johnson Lee in the near future.
The source said the police hope to question Lee about his investment plan.
The source added that the police believe Lee is still in Malaysia, and they hope that he would turn up to assist in investigations.
