The Kuala Lumpur Mayor’s Tourism Awards (KLMTA) 2017 was held last night
In one of the most pretigious categories Shangri La Kuala Lumpur won the Platinum Award for 5 star hotel Category as the Mandarin Oriental took Gold.

During the process, the public casted their votes on their preferred establishment but this was only 5% of the scoring while judges scored the rest
The KLMTA, initiated in 2011, is held every three years to recognise the “best of the best” of service providers in various categories with the aim of raising standards in the tourism industry.
Kuala Lumpur Tourism Bureau general manager Khairul Anuar Mhd Juri said public voting only constituted 5% of the points while the remaining points would be awarded by the judges.
“This is to prevent the prestigious KLMTA 2017 from becoming a popularity award.
Award recipients receieved a trophy and certificate as well as the exclusive rights to use KLMTA 2017 logo in their promotional materials.
Platinum award recipients will be given up to 50% discounts in their licensing fees while gold award recipients will enjoy 25% discount.
“I believe this awards programme has developed a reputation for having the highest standards in the industry.
“Receiving this award has become an aspiration for many tourism players in the industry,” said Kuala Lumpur mayor Datuk Seri Mohd Amin Nordin Abd Aziz
