KUALA LUMPUR: Four suspected members of the Geng Civic robbery gang were killed in a shootout with the police in Wangsa Maju Thursday.
It is learnt that the suspects had trailed their victim who had withdrawn RM40,000 from a bank in Sri Gombak.
The victim drove in a car and arrived in Wangsa Maju at about 12.35pm when the suspects, armed with parangs, snatched the bag containing the cash, from their victim.
They also injured the victim.
Police were alerted of the incident and quickly swung into action. They managed to track down the suspects a short distance away from the scene.
City CID chief Senior Asst Comm Rusdi Mohd Isa said the suspects fired shots at the police who returned fire.
"All four suspects were killed.
"We seized two parangs and two pistols from the car used by the suspects," he said
