GEORGE TOWN: Police have seized drugs worth more than RM1.5mil from a car salesman in Gelugor here.

Penang police chief Comm Datuk Abdul Ghafar Rajab said that officers from the Penang narcotics department detained the man, 41, as he was walking towards his home in Gelugor at about 2pm on Jan 5.

"He was carrying a bag containing drugs believed to be syabu, Erimin 5 pills and Ecstasy pills.

"We seized seven packets believed to contain syabu weighing 7,254g wrapped in aluminium foil and plastic.



"We also found three more packets containing 15,000 Erimin 5 pills and four packets containing 20,000 Ecstasy pills, also wrapped in aluminium foil and plastic.

"The suspect will be remanded until Jan 12 for further investigations," he told a press conference at the state police headquarters Friday.

Comm Abdul Ghafar added that police also seized two BMWs, a Honda Accord, watches, jewellery and cash with an estimated worth of RM768,120.

He said that the case would be investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952
