KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 18 — An employee of Syarikat Air Johor (SAJ) was assaulted by two men while carrying out a contract to remove a piped water meter in Kulai village in the southern state.
In videos and photographs of the incident that have gone viral on social media, two topless men are seen shouting and roughing up a motorcyclist said to be an employee from the state utility company.
One
man is seen rushing towards the motorcyclist with a hoe. In a short video clip posted on Facebook, the hoe-man is later seen throwing a punch to the motorcyclist’s uncovered face from the left. Seconds later, a second topless man executes a flying kick to the motorcyclist from the right.
Despite the hostility against him, the SAJ employee is not seen to retaliate.
The incident is believed to have occurred in Kampung Melayu, but ProjekMMO, Malay Mail Online’s sister publication in Bahasa Malaysia was unable to verify when it happened at the time of writing.
According to a Facebook user who posted the video and pictures on his account under moniker Kapten Ben, the SAJ contractor had delayed disabling the water meter for three months to spare the home’s inhabitants from being without piped water supply.
Kapten Ben’s posting on the incident has drawn over 8,000 shares since it was uploaded about 7pm today.
When contacted, a staff at Kulai district police headquarters said it had yet to receive any information on the incident.
However, another police source confirmed with ProjekMMO that a police report has been filed. The source who spoke on condition of anonymity declined to detail the complaint.
