PETALING JAYA: Two youths were charged separately in Kampar and Malacca for allowing their bank accounts to be used to help fund terrorism activities.

Kayak instructor Mohamad Jaz­rin Mohamad Azaha was charged in a Kampar magistrate’s court with allowing his bank account to be used by notorious terrorist Muham­mad Wanndy Mohamed Jedi.

Mohamad Jazrin, 22, nodded when the charge was read out to him by a court interpreter. No plea was recorded.

He is accused of allowing his bank account to be used by Muhammad Wanndy, 26, for withdrawal and deposit purposes.



Mohamad Jazrin, from Kampung Sungai Itek in Gopeng, allegedly committed the offence under Section 130Q (1) of the Penal Code between January and February this year.

If convicted, he can be jailed a maximum 20 years or fined, and his property can also be forfeited.

Deputy public prosecutor Nurul Azriah Zaid said that Section 13 (1) of the Security Offences and Special Measures Act (Sosma) specified that no bail be granted.

Magistrate Mohd Azrul Hasyimi Mohamad fixed July 27 for mention.

Meanwhile in Malacca, Mohamed Danny Mohamed Jedi, 28, was char­ged with knowingly dealing with property belonging to Muhammad Wanndy by facilitating the transaction into and from a Maybank account for the benefit of a terrorist group.

Bernama reported that Mohamed Danny allegedly committed the offence at Maybank Ayer Keroh, G-6, Lebuh Ayer Keroh, Hotel King, Ayer Keroh, between Jan 28 and March 5 this year.

He was also charged under Section 130Q (1) of the Penal Code.

However, no plea was recorded after the charge was read out before magistrate Mohd Asri Abd Rahman Sidik.

The prosecution was conducted by deputy public prosecutor Nor­shazwani Ishak, while Moha­med Danny was unrepresented.

The court set July 18 for mention.
