KUALA LUMPUR: A Penang-bound trailer ferrying seven brand new cars lost control and collided with two other cars in an accident at the North-South highway today.
The accident, which left the brand new cars strewn across the highway as a result, led to a massive traffic jam due to the road being impassable.
The incident occurred at KM421.7 of the south-bound route. Traffic was brought to a complete standstill for three kilometres from the accident location.
Hulu Selangor district police chief R.Supramaniam said no casualties were involved in the noon accident.
“It is learnt that the trailer driver lost control of the vehicle which hit the barrier and skidded to the south-bound lane.
"The skidded trailer hit two other cars, a Mercedes Benz and an Estima. Both of the drivers escaped unscathed."
After two hours of traffic at a standstill, PLUS eventually opened a pathway for the motorists to enter the opposing north-bound lane to ease up the congestion.
Supramaniam said traffic began moving again at 2pm.
