KUALA LUMPUR: A food stall assistant was sentenced to a day's jail and fined RM5,000, in default a month's jail, by the magistrate's court here Tuesday for riding her motorcycle in a dangerous and reckless manner.
Magistrate Noorul Fhaiez Mohd Nayan handed down the sentence on Nur Anizan Khairunnisa Muhamad Ruzaidi, 19, who pleaded guilty to the charge. Her driving licence was also suspended for two years.
The woman was detained in a special operation code-named "Ops Roda Bersepadu" when she was caught riding her motorcycle in against the traffic flow at Jalan Raja Laut here at 12.20am last April 25.
She was charged under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which provides an imprisonment for up to five years and fine of up to RM15,000, and disqualified to ride or drive for two years.
The third of 10 siblings, Nur Anizan was unrepresented, while the prosecution was conducted by prosecuting officer Inspector Hashimah Hashim. - Bernama
