Police Kill Two Men in shootout in Rawang

PETALING JAYA: Two men – one of them a wanted criminal – were killed in an early morning shootout with police Sunday.
The incident, which happened along Jalang Lagong, Rawang, at around 3am, happened as police on patrol were tailing a car being driven suspiciously.
Police stopped the vehicle as it approached a turn in the road, but the suspects started shooting after the police identified themselves.
An exchange of gunfire then ensued, and the two suspects were shot dead.
According to Selangor CID chief Deputy Comm Datuk Mohd Adnan Abdullah, police believe that the two men were preparing for a robbery, judging from the items found in their vehicle.
"We found a .38 calibre handgun near one of the suspect with four casings and one live round, The other suspect, believed to be the driver, had a firearm tucked in his pants at the waist. We also found a machete, two knives, a metal rod, gloves and a ski mask," he said.
DCP Adnan added that they also found a vehicle license plate with the number WTG 9832, which is believed to have been used during robberies to mislead authorities.
The suspects were aged 40 and 41 years old.
"One of the suspect had four previous records, including theft. He also was wanted by the police for causing harm with a weapon. The other did not have any record," said DCP Adnan.
He added that the car used by the suspects was reported stolen in 2014.
