KUALA LUMPUR, May 11 — An Iranian man claimed trial in the Sessions Court here today, to a charge of planting a cannabis plant in a condominium, last month.
Sharif Kazem Ahmad, 33, was charged with planting eight green plants with green leaves, with the height of seven to 51 inches, which were suspected to be cannabis plants.
Sharif Kazem, a businessman, was alleged to have committed the offence at Blok A-5-6 Villa Laman Tasik Condominium, Jalan Sri Permaisuri, here at around 6.40pm on April 27 this year.
The charge, under Section 6B(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 is punishable under Section 6B(3) of the same Act, which carries a life imprisonment and with a whipping of not less than six strokes, if found guilty.
Sharif Kazem, also pleaded not guilty to the charge of staying in Malaysia after the expiry of his social visit pass on April 27.
The offence under Section 15(1)(centre) of the Immigration Act 1950/63 (2002 Amendment) is punishable under Section 15(4) of the same Act, it carries a fine of not less than RM 10,000 or imprisonment for a minimum of five years, or both.
