KUCHING: A female sales assistant endured 'a night of hell' when she was drugged and raped by her housemate's relative on Wednesday night.
At the end of her ordeal, the rapist stuffed RM20 into the young woman's private parts.
The incident occurred when the woman was with the housemate's relative at her rented house in Taman Seng Goon about 7pm.
The relative, who is a 31-year-old man, had barged into her room and attacked her.
The woman attempted to put up a struggle but was overpowered by the man, who then tied her up.
The man also brandished a knife to warn her against retaliating. He then forced several pills into her mouth and forced her to swallow them.
When she became semi-conscious, the man proceeded to rape her several times until the next morning.
The man concluded his heinous acts by stuffing a RM20 note into her private parts.
Sarawak Criminal Investigation Department (CID) chief Senior Assistant Commissioner Dev Kumar said the suspect was arrested at his house in Kampung Mongkos in Tebakang near here yesterday.
Dev said police also seized the knife and belt used during the sexual assault.
It was learnt that the suspect was behaving aggressively following a failed relationship with his former girlfriend.
Dev said the case is being investigated under Section 376 of the Penal Code for rape.
A total of 149 rapes cases were reported in Sarawak in last year, registering an increase of five cases or three per cent compared to 2014.
