KUALA LUMPUR: The red shirt protest against the Selangor state government led by Datuk Jamal Yunos moved from a shopping mall to the Ampang Umno branch headquarters some six kilometres away.

The protest, which Jamal estimates will attract "thousands" of supporters, began at 3pm and Malay non-governmental organisation leaders are schedule to speak against apparent failings of the Selangor government.

"For all these years they have been in power here and they have nothing to show for it.
"Selangor has not progressed one bit and they have abandoned the people of Selangor," claimed Jamal, who did not list examples of the alleged failings of the government.
He said the protest, which has been declared illegal by the state police, will carry on as the organisers had followed every process under the Peaceful Assembly Act (PAA).
The Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) has rejected the application to hold the protest at the shopping mall.
Jamal claimed this was because the MPAJ was under the influence of the Opposition.
"We did our part, we applied for a permit unlike the other NGOs that are friendly to the Opposition. So we will continue with our protest," he said.
Outside the Ampang Umno office along Jalan Ampang, the haze was visible while traffic remains at the usual crawl along the busy city centre road.
Supporters clad in red shirts were seen setting up a stage and PA system while preparing shirts, drinks and banners with writings like "Kerajaan Selangor Tipu."
Police were seen monitoring the events from across the road.
Two Visit Malaysia buses and a school bus were seen arriving to drop of supporters at the headquarters.
