KOTA KINABALU: Police are investigating a case of a naked woman found unconscious in a drain near a seafood restaurant in Penampang.

The woman, whose 'body in the drain' photograph was circulated via social networks was believed in her 20s, was found by passers-by at about noon on Thursday.

According to posts on the social media, it is believe that she was raped and also hit based on the bruises on her face but police have yet to confirm.

Penampang district police chief Deputy Supt Rosley Honden said the woman have been sent to the hospital for treatment after she was found.

“She needs to be examined and treated before we can get a statement from her,” he said.
