Man pleads guilty of raping his grandmother

KOTA KINABALU: A 21-year-old man who raped his paralysed grandmother late last year will know his punishment on Feb 6.
The man who was drunk when he committed the act had earlier pleaded guilty to raping his 76-year-old grandmother before Sessions Court judge Ainul Shahrin.
He faces a jail term of between eight and 30 years and 10 strokes of the rotan.
He had admitted to raping the old woman at a house in Kota Belud on Dec 30.
Ainul ordered the man, who was not represented, to be remanded further pending the date as the court was still waiting for his probation report from the Welfare Department.
According to the statement of the facts, the man’s aunt had lodged a police report pertaining to the incident after being informed about it by her daughter.
The woman had seen her cousin enter their grandmother’s room at about 12.45pm. He was alleged to have removed her diaper and raped her.
She then locked the room door from outside and told her mother about what she saw but the man managed to escape by jumping out of the window.
The man was later picked up by the police.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Ahmad Nazneen Zulkifli appeared for the prosecution.
