A video showing two men robbing a telephone shop in Bandar Puteri Klang has been uploaded on YouTube to warn residents of the robbers who are still at large.
The 1.40-minute recording from the shop’s CCTV showed the men threatening a shop assistant with machetes before ransacking the place.
They also smashed the display cabinet before fleeing with the loot during the 7.20pm incident on Tuesday.
The footage of the incident was uploaded by the store owner’s brother, 25-year-old Suresh Kalyenannan, over the Facebook page of the Malaysian Crime Awareness Campaign at 2am Wednesday.
Suresh said the thieves even snatched a gold chain from the neck of the frightened shop assistant.“They left scratches and red marks on Ana’s (the shop assistant) neck,” said Suresh, when contacted on Wednesday.
Halfway into the robbery, a barber from next door was seen opening the door of the shop. He left immediately when he saw that a robbery was taking place.
“She is still shaken by the entire incident,” Suresh said.
He added that the two suspects may have been responsible for several robberies in the area.
“They’ve been around since before Deepavali. They drive a silver Perodua Myvi,” he said.
The two suspects had entered the store 10 minutes before the robbery to buy top-up phone cards.
“I think they wanted to make sure that Ana was alone before robbing the store,” said Suresh, adding that he lost about RM1,000 in the robbery.
“We have already lodged a police report,” he said.
The video was first shared on the MCPF Facebook page before being uploaded on YouTube.
The video on MCPF’s Facebook page received more than a hundred comments condemning the act. They called on the police to act fast to nab the two men.
South Klang police chief ACP Mohamad Mat Yusop said the police were currently studying the CCTV footage.
“We have launched a manhunt for the suspects,” he said.
