KUALA LUMPUR: A married construction labourer pleaded not guilty today to threatening to ruin his ex-lover's reputation by uploading obscene pictures and videos involving her.
Aziz Hussin, 34, was charged at the Magistrate's Court with criminal intimidation against the 26-year-old waitress at the shopping mall where she worked.
The incident allegedly took place at the Pavilion at Jalan Bukit Bintang, Dang Wangi here, around 9am on Nov 4.
He was arrested on Nov 8, three days after the victim lodged a police report.
Criminal intimidation is punishable with seven years' jail, fine or both if it involves a threat to paint the victim as a person of loose character.
Deputy public prosecutor Nur Hafizah Rajuni applied for bail to be set at RM5,000 with one surety, and a bail condition requiring him to stay away from the victim while the trial is underway.
Magistrate Nurul 'Ain Abdul Rahim then asked the accused who was not represented, about the length of his relationship with the victim.
"We have known each other for four years and I have been in a relationship with her," Aziz said.
Nurul then granted RM3,000 bail with one surety and ordered him to avoid disturbing the victim until the completion of the case.
She fixed Dec 16 for mention.
