Fishermen recover body of drowned man
PASIR GUDANG: Fishermen have discovered a body believed to be that of a maintenance supervisor who was swept away by strong currents while trying to save his drowning son last Saturday.
The body, believed to be that of Abdul Talib Mohd Hadhari, 42, was found in Singapore waters at around 11.25am yesterday.
Abdul Talib, together with his eight-year-old son Mohd Taufik, had disappeared after they were swept away by strong currents at around 4.30pm at Kampung Tanjung Langsat on Satuday.
The two, along with Abdul Talib’s 11-year-old daughter Nurul Umairah, had been fishing on a wooden raft house when the incident occurred.
Seri Alam deputy OCPD Deputy Supt Saifi Abd Hamid said the body had been sent to a hospital in Singapore.
“The Singapore coastguard informed us that the body was found together with an identification card which matched the victim but we still need the next-of-kin to verify it,” he said when contacted.
He said that authorities were still searching for Mohd Taufik.
Meanwhile, Abdul Talib’s wife and children, who have been waiting at the jetty in Kampung Tanjung Langsat, broke down in tears after hearing the news.

The body of 8-year-old who fell into the water during fishing trip found
JOHOR BARU: A search and rescue team have found the body of a child believed to be that of Mohd Taufik Abdul Talib, 8, at Pulau Tekong near the border of Malaysian and Singaporean waters here.
Malaysian Fire and Rescue department operation head Yaacob Mariman said Tuesday that the Maritime police found the body at about 11.45am.
"We believe it is the body of Mohd Taufik who was washed away along with his father by strong currents," he said when contacted.
It was reported that Mohd Taufik slipped off the raft where he was fishing with his father and sister at about 4.30pm at Kampung Tanjung Langsat on Saturday.
His father maintenance supervisor Abdul Talib Mohd Hadhari, 42, jumped in to save him but both were swept away by the currents.
