KUALA LUMPUR: Radio DJ Royce Tan, who admitted in a magistrate’s court here that he and the man charged with the murder of his mother in 2011 were lovers, said she often came to patch things up between them.
During cross examination by counsel Datuk Mohd Yusof Zainal Abiden, Tan said his mother, Lai Kam Lian, had been supportive of his relationship with Kenny Lim Kang Wee and had acted as a go-between them (the two men) when they had arguments.
“It (the relationship) wasn’t healthy. It was anything but healthy, seriously,” said Tan, adding that he and Lim were willing to “put up with it” as they loved each other too much.
Lim, 31, is charged with stabbing Lai to death outside the compound of her house at Taman Sri Segambut here at about 9.45pm on Dec 1, 2011.
Asked if his mother knew that Lim was his lover, Tan told the court that he had revealed the nature of the relationship when Lai, 63, became concerned over their fighting.
“I told her we weren’t just friends but lovers and she was happy for me. I was the happiest son in the world,” said Tan, laughing.
He agreed when asked by Mohd Yusof if Lim had moved in with him and if he (Tan) had an active sex life at the time.
Tan had testified on Tuesday that the last time he saw Lim before his mother’s murder was after an argument which resulted in Tan taking back his house key and kicking Lim out.
He had also said his head was injured and bleeding following a fight with Lim after he suspected him of having an affair with another man.
The fight occurred about two days before Tan’s mother was killed at their family home of over 30 ye
