Jilted woman runs over ex-boyfriend
NEW ZEALAND - A woman used her car to plough into her former lover after he apparently broke up with her, and even tried running him over a second time, if not for passers-by who stopped her.
A video of the hit-and-run incident, which took place recently in New Zealand, has been circulating online.
The drama started with the couple arguing outside a store and witnesses heard the man telling the woman that he was going to leave her.
She was then seen using her car to knock him down, and only stopped when a middle-aged man intervened.
"The first time [she ran him over] we thought it was just an accident, but the second time we knew it wasn't," said one witness.
The 44-year-old woman then plunged into a river in her car, but managed to flee while the vehicle sank, with the aid of police and a passing kayaker. She has been sent for psychological evaluation.
The man had severe cuts on his legs, a large bruise on his tailbone and was bleeding from the back of his head, but is currently in stable condition at the hospital.
