Selangor top cop defends using commandos to guard Ambank officer's killer
SHAH ALAM: Selangor police chief Datuk Mohd Shukri Dahlan asked that the public be more rational when giving comments on the methods used by the police in guarding the main suspect in the murder of a bank officer.
The men responsible for guarding the suspect followed standard operating procedures, he told reporters after attending the Selangor police's monthly assembly at the state police headquarters here on Wednesday.
He said this when asked to comment on postings in social media who questioned the need for the suspect to be guarded by four Special Action Force commandos who were masked and armed.
The brutal murder case of Ambank officer, Norazita Abu Talib, in Subang Jaya, near here, on Oct 23, is a high-profile case and has angered the public thus it was necessary to use trained personnel and experts in such cases, he said.
"We have to see it as a high profile criminal case, he (the suspect) fled, we do not want him to kill or injure another person or hurt himself and we are considering the situation from all angles.
"Let us do our work, we have standard operating procedures. We interpret and evaluate the safety and we know what we are doing," he said. - Bernama
