GEORGE TOWN: Penang police have made the biggest drug haul this year with the seizure of drugs in various forms worth RM14.6mil.
Among the drugs recovered from a rented apartment in Jelutong were 19kg of Ecstasy powder, 58kg of Methamphetamine powder and 15 litres of Methamphetamine in liquid form.
On Monday, the house owner broke into the unit after the occupant failed to pay rent for three consecutive months.
He contacted the police upon discovering the huge stash of narcotics.
Penang police chief Senior Deputy Comm Datuk Abdul Rahim Hanafi said on Wednesday the apartment was used as a storeroom by the occupant, a drug pusher.
Investigations by the Narcotics CID counterpart in Bukit Aman showed that the man, in his early 20s, was arrested in Shenzhen, China for a drug related offence.
